Riyadh - Switzerland is planning to be present with its own pavilion at Expo 2030, which will be hosted by the Saudi Arabian capital city of Riyadh. Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation, officially informed the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, of this during his visit to Saudi Arabia last week.

(CONNECT) Switzerland is expected to take part in theWorld Exposet to take place across 2030 and 2031 in Riyadh in order to promote Swiss interests. According to astatement, this decision was reached by the Federal Council, which is the Swiss government, on April 15. Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation, informed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of his government’s decision during his visit to Saudi Arabia on April 23.

Switzerland plans to be present in Riyadh with its own pavilion, which according to the statement will aim to convey that the Swiss brand stands for excellence and trustworthiness in all economic sectors. Switzerland will seek to position itself as a high-performance innovation hub and as a country that facilitates dialog on global issues.

The presence will come at a cost of 15.4 million Swiss francs. Switzerland’s appearance at Expo 2030 will be based at a rented pavilion rather than a self-built one in order to keep costs down. Sponsors are expected to contribute 2 million francs. The Swiss government intends to submit the corresponding proposal to parliament next year.

Expo 2030 is scheduled to take place from October 31, 2030 to March 31, 2031. It will be held under the motto “Foresight for Tomorrow” and is expected to attract 197 participating countries and 42 million visitors.
