Axel Springer SE and group companies implement policy on political online ads; annual risk assessment from 2027.

Personal-Data-Based Targeting/Ad Delivery in Political Online Advertising Policy

Ad Delivery in Political Online Advertising Policy

When does this policy apply?

This policy applies whenever Axel Springer SE or any of its group companies delivers political online advertisements using targeting and

or ad-delivery techniques that involve the processing of personal data.

ad delivery is carried out only on the basis of data provided by the individual concerned and only with separate, explicit consent for political advertising. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.

We do not use targeting

ad delivery that uses or infers special categories of personal data (Article 9 GDPR). In addition, we do not direct political online advertising to individuals where we can establish with reasonable certainty that they are at least one year below the national voting age.

Together with the label “Political advertisement”, we provide information that enables users to understand the logic and the main parameters of the targeting

delivery (including, where applicable, audience groups

logic, use of AI systems, the delivery period and the number of persons reached), as well as a link to this policy.

Annual risk assessment & publication

From 2027, we will carry out an internal annual risk assessment of the impact of these techniques on fundamental rights and freedoms. We will provide a link with the results on this page.

This policy is publicly accessible and will be retained for seven years from the last use of the relevant techniques.
