Asian Beach Games 2026: Pushpa Yadav, Priya Malik win gold in wrestling as India finish with six medals

Wrestlers Siddharth (men’s 70kg) and Jaspreet Kaur (women’s 70kg) also finished on the podium. India’s women’s and men’s kabaddi teams won gold and silver, respectively.

Indian wrestlersbagged four medals in beachwrestling, taking the country’s overall final tally to six medals at theAsian Beach Games 2026inSanya, the People’s Republic of China, on Wednesday.

Priya Malik (women’s 70+kg) and Pushpa Yadav (women’s 60kg) won gold, while Siddharth (men’s 70kg) and Jaspreet Kaur (women’s 70kg) secured silver and bronze medals, respectively.

In the women’s 60kg final, Pushpa Yadav beat Asian champion Xie Mengyu of China 3-0 to clinch gold. Vietnam’s Thi My Hanh Nguyen completed the podium.

Asian medallist Priya Malik secured India’s other gold in wrestling after edging Mongolia’s Bolortungalag Zorigt 3-2 in the women’s 70+kg final. China’s Li Wenji bagged the bronze.

Jaspreet Kaur was the other Indian women’s wrestler to finish on the podium. After losing to Vietnam’s Thi Linh Dang in the 70kg semi-finals, Jaspreet Kaur won the bronze medal bout 2-0 against Beibit Seidualy of Kazakhstan.

China’s Jia Long and Thi Linh Dang won the women’s 70kg gold and silver medals, respectively.

Among India’s men’s wrestlers, Siddharth was the only one to find a place on the podium in the 70kg category.

After edging Pakistan’s Muhammad Abdullah 1-0 in the semi-final, Siddharth had to settle for silver, going down 3-0 to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Aliakbar Zaroudi in the final.

Kyrgyzstan’s Adis Rakhat Uulu took the final spot on the men’s 70kg podium.

India also secured a gold and silver medal in women’s and men’skabaddi, respectively, earlier this week.

India’s tally of six medals at the Asian Beach Games 2026 include three gold, two silver and a bronze.

India had also sent athletes to compete in3x3 basketballandsailingbut failed to win medals in the two sports.

Organised by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), the Asian Beach Games is a multi-sport event focused on beach and coastal disciplines. First held in Bali, Indonesia, in 2008, the Games showcase sports not always featured at theAsian Games.
