Fighting Food Waste, Supporting People: Sika at the Tafel Stuttgart

From Waste to Worth: Supporting the "Tafel" Initiative

The Sika team worked alongsideTafelstaff to prepare vegetables for sale, sort out unsuitable food, organize products into boxes, and stock the sales area. Sika staff also assisted with disposing of packaging materials and helped guide customers through the shop.

The purpose of this project was simple yet impactful: to support the dedicated employees and volunteers who keep the Tafel running. These efforts directly benefit socially disadvantaged members of the community, providing them with access to affordable, quality food.

By helping to redistribute food that would otherwise be discarded, we contributed to reducing food waste while supporting a vital social institution. The Tafel operates through donations, collecting surplus food from supermarkets and offering it at low cost to individuals with limited income.

This experience highlighted the importance of sustainability and social responsibility. It also reinforced how collective efforts can make a meaningful difference.
