Partizani Tirana win 18th men’s volleyball title in Albania; third straight title

Defending men’s volleyball champions Partizani Tirana claimed their 18th title in Albania. It was their third in a row. On Tuesday, they won the third match of the best-of-five final series against Skenderbeu Korce to close it off without conceding a loss. After a hard-fought five-set battle, the squad from the capital registered a3-2 (25-16, 25-27, 25-21, 16-25, 15-8)home victory.

TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg wrote history by winning the club’s first national men’s volleyball title in Austria. They took the best-of-seven championship playoff against UVC McDonald’s Ried im Innkreis by 4-1 in wins. It ended on Tuesday with a3-2 (25-16, 22-25, 24-26, 25-16, 15-11)home victory. Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel Zwettl took the bronze.

Maritza Plovdiv(pictured in the main photo; credits: startphoto.bg)collected their 12th (consecutive!) national women’s volleyball title in Bulgaria without losing a single match the entire season. They swept the best-of-five final series against Levski Sofia with three straight-set wins, wrapping it up on Monday with an emphatic3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-12)home victory. Maritza’s 20-year-old opposite Iva Dudova was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the final playoff. CSKA Sofia earned the bronze.

Croatia’s women’s volleyball league season ended on Tuesday with Mladost Zagreb celebrating their 20th national title. In the fourth match of the best-of-five championship playoff, Mladost produced a3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-20)road victory over Ribola Kastela and took the series by 3-1 in wins.

Mladost Zagreb’s men’s team followed suit on Wednesday and picked up the title, their 24th since Croatia’s independence. It also took them four matches to overcome the resistance of Mursa Osijek in the best-of-five final. Mladost delivered a3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 31-29)sweep of the fourth game on the road to close the series at 3-1 in wins and triumph as champions.

Selmy Brno achieved a complete turnaround from two wins down in the best-of-five final series against Dukla Liberec in Czechia’s women’s league to bring home the title after the deciding fifth match on Tuesday, which they won by3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16)in front of over four and a half thousand fans at home. It was the second time in history Selmy triumphed as national champions. The bronze medals went to Sokol Frydek-Mistek.

The medal matches in both the women’s and the men’s leagues of Georgia took place in Tbilisi on Wednesday. Evropis Universiteti Tbilisi defended their women’s title from 2025 after a dramatic3-2 (25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 24-26, 15-10)showdown against Batumi. Tbilisi won the bronze medal game.

Tsageri triumphed as men’s national champions. They put together a3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 28-26)sweep of the gold medal match against Batumi. Earlier in the day, UG Tbilisi earned the bronze medals.

Herceg Novi picked up their fourth women’s national title (in a row) in Montenegro. They took the competitive best-of-five final playoff against Luka Bar by 3-0 in wins after Monday’s hard-fought3-2 (10-25, 25-18, 25-20, 19-25, 15-12)home victory in the third match of the series.

The best-of-five final series in the Polish women’s league went the full length and came to an end on Wednesday, when PGE Budowlani Lodz achieved a3-1 (25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 25-23)away victory over DevelopRes Rzeszow to close the playoff at 3-2 in wins and celebrate the club’s first national title. UNI Opole won the bronze medal series.

Cangrejeras de Santurce San Juan regained the national women’s title of Puerto Rico, which they first won in 2024, after sweeping the best-of-seven championship playoff against Leonas Ponce in four straight-set victories. They closed the series on Wednesday with a convincing3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-21)road win. Cangrejeras’ 32-year-old Mexican opposite was recognized as MVP of the final playoff, while 28-year-old libero Okiana Valle of Criollas Caguas was honored as season’s MVP.

Voluntari 2005 earned their second national title in Romanian women’s volleyball. They outlasted Volei Alba Blaj by 3-1 in wins in the best-of-five championship series, closing it on Tuesday with a3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23)home victory. Dinamo Bucharest celebrated the bronze.

Defending Ziraat Bankkart Ankara took three games to get the job done in the best-of-five title playoff in Turkish men’s volleyball. In the third match on Monday at home, in front of five thousand fans in the stands, they beat their opponents Galatasaray HDI Sigorta Istanbul by3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-19)to add the fifth national title to their collection.
