Thomas Cup 2026 knockout draw: India to face Group C toppers Chinese Taipei in quarter-finals

If India - Group A runners-up - manage to beat Chinese Taipei in the quarters, they will meet the winner of the match between France and Japan in the semi-finals.

TheIndian men’s badminton teamhas been drawn with Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals ofThomas Cup 2026, held in Horsens, Denmark, on Friday.

India finished as runners-up in Group A, behind defending champions the People’s Republic of China and will take on Group C winners Chinese Taipei.

Chinese Taipei began theirThomas Cupcampaign by beating Sweden 5-0 before losing 3-2 against the Republic of Korea and overcoming hosts Denmark by the same scoreline to top Group C.

India, the Thomas Cup 2022 champions, qualified for the quarter-finals following 4-1 and 5-0 wins against Canada and Australia before a 3-2 loss to China in their final group game.

Group A winners China will take on Group B runners-up Malaysia in their quarter-final encounter.

Meanwhile, Group D toppers Thailand face Denmark and Group B winners Japan will meet France in the other two quarter-final clashes.

If India manages to beat Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals, they will meet the winner of the match between France and Japan in the semi-finals.

The 2026 Thomas Cup semi-finals will take place on Saturday before the tournament culminates with the final the following day.

Now in its 34th edition, Indonesia are the most successful nation in Thomas Cup history with 14 titles, ahead of defending champions China, who have 11.

Elsewhere, the Indian women’s badminton team failed to reach the Uber Cup knockout stage after losing its final group tie against China on Tuesday.
