The five-time Olympian is working her way back to fitness following surgery for a complex tibia fracture sustained during the Olympic downhill at Milano Cortina 2026.
Alpine skiingstarLindsey Vonnhas been nominated to the 48-memberTeam USAsquad for the 2026-27 season, on Wednesday (6 May). Selection is largely seen as a formality and does not confirm she will compete in the upcoming season.
The five-time Olympiancrashedon her downhill run at theOlympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026on 8 February and required a series of corrective surgeries following a complex tibia fracture in her left leg.
The 41-year-old, who was remarkablyback in the gymless than a month after the incident,toldthe Associated Press last week that she has yet to make a decision about her future, stating “nothing would really happen until ’27-28”, with retirement one of the options she is considering.
Vonn was nominated in the’A Team’of the U.S. Alpine skiing team for the upcoming season, alongsideMikaela Shiffrin, the three-time Olympic gold medallist and reigning World Cup overall champion, and Olympic downhill championBreezy Johnson.
Athletes who accept the nomination and meet the requirements will be officially announced to the team in October.
The2026-27 FIS Alpine Ski World Cupwill begin with a giant slalom on the Rettenbach Glacier inSölden, Austria, starting 25 October.

Wearing an embroidered white and silver dress, Vonn was among several Olympians who attended the star-studded2026 Met Galaon Monday (May 4) at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Using ablack and golden custom canefor support, Vonn interacted with the paparazzi, telling the AP, “I’m so thankful to be here and not be on crutches.”
