The two-time Grand Slam finalist withdrew from the Italian Open ahead of her second-round match, less than two weeks before the start of the 2026 French Open.

The World No.6 has withdrawn from the Rome tournament due to aleft wrist injuryahead of her scheduled second-round match withJelena Ostapenkoon Thursday (7 May).
Lucky loserElena-Gabriela Ruseof Romania replaced Anisimova in the main draw, but ultimately fell to her Latvian opponent.
Anisimova last competed at the2026 Indian WellsandMiami Open. She advanced to the Round of 16 in both tournaments, but sustained an undisclosed injury in the latter. That injury forced her to pull out of theCharleston Openin late March and theMadrid Openin late April.
It remains to be seen whether the two-time Grand Slam finalist will be able to compete at the2026 Roland Garros, particularly as she has yet to play in this season’s Clay-Court Swing.
One of Anisimova’s career highlights was reaching the French Open semi-final in 2019.
The 2026 tournament runs from 18 May to 7 June.
