Stars to watch at 2026 Africa Athletics Championships in Accra
The Africa Athletics Championships are particularly significant to Yego, also known as the ‘YouTube Man’. That was his first international competition, and he took bronze when his country hosted the event in 2010.
Sixteen years later, the Olympic silver medallist - who learned the basics of javelin from YouTube - returns to the African Championships for the last time eyeing a fourth consecutive title.
The 37-year-old is the undisputed headline act in a Kenyan team that includes rising middle-distance starsKelvin Loti (800m), Reynold Cheruiyot (1500m)andMary Ekiru,a strong championship racer in the women’s 1500m.
