The 32-year-old finished ahead of South Africa’s Bradley Nkoana, who took the silver, and Nigeria’s Chidera Ezeakor, who completed the podium with bronze.

The 32-year-old had previously won back-to-back silver medals at the African Championships, including on home soil two years ago.
But this time he would not be denied. The University of Ghana Stadium, where he won African Games 100m gold in 2024, once again proved a happy hunting ground as he dominated the field to secure his first continental title.
While Eseme’s victory was clear, a photo finish was needed to separate silver from bronze.
BradleyNkoana,a member of South Africa’s historic 4x100m relay silver medal-winning team at Paris 2024, claimed silver in 10.311, edging Nigeria’sChidera Ezeakor,who took bronze in 10.318.
“I’m always happy to compete here at this wonderful stadium, and I’m glad I got the gold,” Eseme toldOlympics.comafter the race.
“Right now I’d say my season is at 50 per cent, so to win at this point should really set me up for the rest of the season.”
