This year’s edition at the Birsa Munda Stadium will serve as the only selection trial for theCommonwealth Games 2026, which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2.

However, the Athletics Federation of India clarified that exemptions may be granted for athletes not competing in Ranchi, provided they receive prior written approval from the federation.

With each country restricted to a maximum of 32 track and field athletes at CWG 2026, the AFI has introduced some of the toughest qualification standards.

In as many as 15 events, Indian athletes will need to surpass the existingnational recordto qualify. However, the final call for selection remains with the AFI.
