Team USA gymnastics great Simone Biles has not competed in nearly two years, last featuring at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Simone Biles , the seven-time Olympic gymnastics champion, shared a post on social media about a health scare. Without revealing details about the medical emergency, the Team USA star called it one of the "scariest" experiences of her life.

The 29-year-old, widely regarded as one of the best gymnasts of all time, posted a story on Instagram, showing her right wrist covered in what looked like patient identification tags used in hospitals.

"I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today's age, but almost dying wasn't on my bingo card earlier this week,” Biles wrote on Saturday (6 June).

“This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life, especially since Jonathan was in Indy for his practices," she added, referring to her husband and NFL player Jonathan Owens , who was away for off-season training with the Indianapolis Colts.

"I've been in bed resting this week. I’ll explain sooner or later, but s

o [shoutout] to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers," she said.

Gymnastics great Biles has not competed since winning four Olympic medals, including three golds, at Paris 2024 .

Last week, speaking to Spanish newspaper El País, Biles said she was still torn about making a return for her fourth Olympic appearance in front of her home fans at LA 28 .

With seven golds, two silver and two bronze medals, Biles is one the most decorated Olympic gymnasts in history.
