Thirty-two years after they last hosted the FIFA World Cup , the United States are staging the global football tournament again, this time alongside Mexico and Canada.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino ’s side begin the 2026 tournament in Group D, with Paraguay, Australia and Türkiye standing between them and the knockout rounds.
It is a 12th World Cup appearance for the U.S., who have advanced from the group stage seven times but have never finished higher than the third place they took on their tournament debut in 1930.
The squad is built around a familiar core, with Christian Pulisic , Weston McKennie and Folarin Balogun among the names expected to lead the way.
The opening match brings Paraguay to Los Angeles. Seattle hosts the meeting with Australia, before the group stage closes back in Los Angeles against Türkiye.
