Making their sixth consecutive appearance at the tournament, the Socceroos are in Group D alongside Türkiye, USA and Paraguay.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 takes place from 11 June to 19 July, with a record 48 teams competing for football’s most-coveted trophy across North America.

Australia will participate in the competition for the sixth consecutive cycle, drawn into Group D alongside Türkiye, Paraguay, and hosts USA. They equalled their best-ever run in competition history four years ago, when they reached the round of 16 in Qatar.

With 17 of their 26-player squad selected for the FIFA World Cup for the first time, head coach Tony Popovic will be relying on veterans to lead the Socceroos forward. That includes long-serving goalkeeper and captain Mathew Ryan , as well as midfielder Jackson Irvine and forward Mathew Leckie .
