India’s Asian Games 2026 badminton team: PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Satwik-Chirag to compete at Aichi-Nagoya - full squad

The men’s squad retains much of the core that clinched a bronze medal at the Thomas Cup earlier this year.

Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and reigning men’s doubles champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy - Chirag Shetty headline India’s 20-member badminton squad for Asian Games 2026 , scheduled in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.

Lakshya Sen , HS Prannoy and former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth - all part of the silver medal-winning Indian men’s team at Hangzhou 2023 - are also part of the Japan-bound squad.

India’s men’s squad for the 20th edition of the Asian Games retains much of the core that clinched a bronze medal at the Thomas Cup earlier this year.

Ayush Shetty, a key member of that Thomas Cup campaign, and Tharun Mannepalli have also been named in the squad.

India’s women’s squad will be led by the experienced PV Sindhu and will be complemented by emerging young players like Tanvi Sharma and Unnati Hooda.

Devika Sihag and Isharani Baruah are also in the women’s squad.

India’s Asian Games badminton squad also features established doubles combinations across the men, women and mixed doubles categories.

Apart from Satwik-Chirag, the emerging men’s doubles pair Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun will also travel to Japan. Arjun was a part of India’s silver-winning men’s team at the 2023 Asian Games.

Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will anchor India’s women’s doubles challenge, alongside the duo of Simran Singhi and Kavipriya Selvam.

Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto will represent India in the mixed doubles.

India will field representation across all five disciplines and head into the 2026 Asian Games having won 13 medals at the continental showpiece in the past.

The 2023 Asian Games marked India’s most successful badminton campaign with one gold, one silver and onel bronze.

India’s highest badminton medal tally overall came at the 1982 New Delhi Asian Games , where the country secured five bronze medals.
