Egoitz Bijueska looks for back-to-back WST World Cup victories to kickstart LA28 campaign

Ranked number one in the world for men’s park, the 15-year-old Spaniard has been in fine form so far in Rome at the WST World Cup.

The top-ranked men’s park skateboarder in the world rankings, 15-year-old Egoitz Bijueska , flew through a high-scoring semi-final at the WST World Cup park in Ostia , Rome, on Saturday (13 June).

It marks the first of the events in which skaters can rack up points to qualify for the Olympic Games LA28 , as the Spaniard bids to make his debut at the Games.

“It’s my dream from when I was a kid ,” the 15-year-old told Olympics.com . “I’m working so hard to make that possible.”

Bilbao-born Bijueska has a dominating 64,026 point lead in the World Skate Rankings.

His history in Ostia has followed his career's rapid progress: He made his first WST finals at this event in 2024, won it in 2025, and has been near-faultless in 2026 so far.

“I love this park; I’ve been skating here since the start of competitions,” he said. “It’s super cool.

“I never expected to be first (in the world). It’s a hard contest, and it’s crazy how everyone is skating so well.”

He finished top of the quarter-finals with a 90.67 score, and confidently put down a 93.45 in his second semi-final run.

To qualify for Sunday’s (14 June) final, he was pipped only by Sakurai Issei’s sensational 94.98-scoring run, making him the first men’s Japanese park rider to progress through to a WST final in the top spot .
