Mbappé’s most memorable moments at the FIFA World Cup

In 2018, Mbappé became the first teenager since Pelé to score in a World Cup final when he netted France’s fourth goal in a 4-2 win over Croatia.

Earlier in the tournament, he became his country’s youngest goalscorer at a major tournament when he notched the winner over Peru.

Perhaps his best performance of Russia 2018 , however, came against Argentina in the Round of 16, when he scored two great goals in four second-half minutes in a 4-3 victory.

Mbappé had another World Cup to remember at Qatar 2022 , when he claimed the Golden Boot with eight goals.

He scored all three of France’s goals in their 3-3 final draw with Argentina, which they lost on penalties, making him just the second man after England’s Geoff Hurst in 1966 to record a hat-trick in the final.

Mbappé’s form ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026

Mbappé has been in prolific form this season for club and country, scoring 47 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions.

The France captain was the top scorer in La Liga with 24 goals, despite his side Real Madrid finishing well behind champions Barcelona.

Mbappé also topped the scoring charts in this year’s UEFA Champions League with 15 goals, even though Real were knocked out at the quarter-final stage.

In France’s World Cup qualifying campaign, Mbappé netted five times in four games.

With 56 goals in total for his country, he is now just one shy of Olivier Giroud ’s all-time national record.
