This year’s showpiece is England’s eighth consecutive year competing at the World Cup, 60 years after they won the event on home soil. Track every England score and the standings in one place.
England will be looking to end their major football title drought at the 2026 FIFA World Cup , the last of which came in the 1966 edition of this competition.
In the intervening years, they have twice reached the semi-finals, in 1990 and 2018. But their victory on home soil 60 years ago remains their sole triumph.
England have also had a number of recent near misses in the European Championship, losing the final of both Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.
They come into this competition as strong contenders, having won all eight of their qualifying matches without conceding, and their fans will be hoping that 2026 will finally be their year of silverware.
This year’s showpiece marks England’s eighth consecutive World Cup, making it out of the group stages in six of those previous editions.
The Three Lions are one of four teams competing in Group L – drawn alongside Croatia, Ghana, and Panama.
Thomas Tuchel’s side boasts an experienced 26-man squad, with the likes of Jude Bellingham , Marcus Rashford , and captain Harry Kane leading the line. The German manager has also opted for plenty of fresh faces, nine of which – including Elliott Anderson and Morgan Rogers – will make their maiden senior tournament bow.
Their opening match is against Croatia in Dallas. Boston hosts their meeting with Ghana, before the group stage closes with a tie against Panama in New Jersey.
Here is everything you need to follow the Red Lions at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
