Assessment of Acceptance and Potential for Optimization of the Innovative Vertical Bicycle Parking System in Public Spaces
While conventional bicycle parking facilities require a lot of space or complex underground structures, V-Locker relies on a fully automated, vertical system.
Bicycles are stored in individual compartments in tower-like parking structures via an elevator. Utilization rates vary by location, though the reasons for this are unclear. The future success of the concept depends on whether enough cyclists use the service regularly.
The aim of the study is to identify key success factors in order to strengthen the user-friendliness of the service and implement targeted optimizations.
Guided interviews are used to identify factors that influence acceptance among potential users.
Furthermore, requirements and barriers to using the automated system as well as parking in public spaces will be documented.
The results will contribute to the further development of V-Locker and to sustainable, multimodal urban mobility.
