FIVB Coaches Courses reach more women coaches across four continents – FIVB

FIVB Coaches Courses continued to connect coaches with learning opportunities around the world in May, with courses in Palestine, Bolivia, Albania, Kiribati and Barbados highlighting the growing involvement of women in coach education.

Spanning four Continental Confederations and both volleyball disciplines, the six courses reflected the continued commitment to strengthening coaching knowledge and supporting the development of volleyball and beach volleyball worldwide.

Across the six courses held in the five countries, 195 coaches took part, including 75 women. Bolivia hosted two courses during the month, alongside courses in Palestine, Albania, Kiribati and Barbados.

Palestine opened the month with an FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball in Jericho from 1 to 5 May. Conducted by FIVB Instructor Rani Asfour, the course brought together 23 participants, including 10 women, for five days of theoretical and practical learning focused on the fundamentals of coaching and player development.

The course combined classroom sessions with on-court activities, giving participants the opportunity to develop their technical knowledge, coaching methodology and understanding of the game. The strong involvement of women coaches reflected the growing interest in coach education in Palestine and contributed to the broader trend seen across the featured courses in May.

Bolivia hosted the first of two FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball programmes in May, with 45 participants, including 14 women, attending the Spanish-language course in La Paz from 4 to 8 May. Led by FIVB Instructor Francisco Cruz Jimenez, the course provided coaches with a comprehensive introduction to coaching principles, technical development and training methodology.

Through a combination of classroom sessions and practical court work, participants had the opportunity to strengthen their coaching knowledge while exchanging ideas and experiences with fellow coaches.

An FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball was held in Albania from 11 to 15 May, bringing together 37 participants, including 16 women. Conducted in English by FIVB Instructor Valon Nikqi and supported through Olympic Solidarity, the course offered a comprehensive introduction to the principles of coaching, combining classroom learning with practical work on the court.

Over five days, participants worked through a range of theoretical and practical topics designed to strengthen their coaching knowledge and understanding of the game.

Bolivia’s second FIVB Coaches Course Level I Volleyball of the month took place in Sucre from 11 to 15 May, with 43 participants, including 14 women, taking part. Conducted in Spanish by FIVB Instructor Francisco Cruz Jimenez, the course continued the country’s active involvement in coach education during May.

The course featured a combination of theoretical and practical sessions, allowing participants to further develop their understanding of coaching concepts and their application on the court.

Beach volleyball development received a boost in Kiribati from 19 to 23 May as 31 participants, including 12 women, took part in an FIVB Coaches Course Beach Volleyball in Tarawa supported through Olympic Solidarity.

Led by FIVB Instructor Lauren Soderberg and delivered in English, the course introduced coaches to the technical and tactical foundations of the discipline. With beach volleyball still emerging in the country, participants explored ways to apply their learning in local clubs, schools and communities.

Barbados closed the month with an FIVB Coaches Course Beach Volleyball from 23 to 27 May, bringing together 16 participants, including nine women. Supported by the Olympic Solidarity and led by Claudia Laciga, the course combined theoretical and practical sessions focused on the key aspects of beach volleyball coaching.

Held at the Garfield Sobers Complex in St. Michael, the course attracted participants from across the Caribbean, including coaches from the Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago. Alongside on-sand practical activities, participants explored the technical, tactical and organisational elements of the discipline, helping to strengthen beach volleyball coaching knowledge within the region.
