India lost their matches against Wales (16-1), Scotland (21-4) and Nigeria (7-6) to finish at the bottom of their group.
India’s campaign in the women’s wheelchair 3x3 basketball competition at the Commonwealth Games 2026 came to an end after a 7-6 defeat to Nigeria in their final Pool B match at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow on Monday.
Needing a victory to keep their hopes alive, the Indian quartet pushed Nigeria all the way in a tense 10-minute contest before falling just one point short.
The result meant India finished their Pool B campaign without progressing to the knockout stage.
Earlier in the competition, India suffered heavy defeats to Wales (16-1) in their Commonwealth Games debut and hosts Scotland (21-4).
The one-point loss to Nigeria in their final Pool B match ended India’s campaign at the CWG .
India’s wheelchair 3x3 basketball team at Glasgow 2026 comprised Reena Gupta, Laxmi Rayannavar, Ritu Chanu Irengbam and Minakshi Jadhav.
The winners of pools A and B advanced directly to the semi-finals, while the second- and third-placed teams from each pool crossed over in the qualification play-ins for the remaining two semi-final berths.
The match remained evenly poised throughout, with the lead changing hands twice and the scores tied on three occasions.
India even held a 3-2 advantage midway through the contest before Nigeria responded with a decisive burst to move ahead 7-5. India managed one late basket but could not find the equaliser before the buzzer.
Minakshi Jadhav led India’s scoring with four points while also collecting three rebounds. Reena Gupta and Ritu Chanu Irengbam added one point each.
Wheelchair 3x3 basketball is played on a half-court with three players from each team on court and one substitute.
Teams score one point for baskets inside the arc and two points from beyond it. Matches are played over a single 10-minute period unless a team reaches 21 points first.
India was the only Asian nation to compete in the women’s wheelchair 3x3 basketball tournament at Glasgow 2026, while the Indian men’s team did not make it to the Commonwealth Games.
