Protistha Samanta’s seventh-place finish in the women’s vault was India’s best result. Pranati Nayak failed to make the final.
India’s eight-member artistic gymnastics contingent returned empty-handed from the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, with Protistha Samanta ’s seventh-place finish in the women’s vault final marking the country’s best result.
Samanta, competing at her maiden Commonwealth Games , qualified seventh for the women’s vault final with a score of 13.025 before finishing seventh in the final with 12.883.
The 22-year-old Indian gymnast ’s performance was India’s lone top-eight finish in the sport at Glasgow 2026 .
India’s biggest medal hope, Pranati Nayak , missed out on the women’s vault final with a score of 12.575.
An Olympian, Pranati Nayak was appearing at her fourth CWG and arrived at the Glasgow International Arena as a three-time Asian Championships bronze medallist in vault.
In the women’s all-around qualification, Samanta totalled 42.250 points to finish 27th, Eshita Rewale scored 41.700 for 28th, and Nishka Agarwal managed 38.550 to place 34th. India accumulated 123.000 points to finish ninth in the women’s team event.
The Indian men’s team also finished seventh with 208.550 points in the team competition.
Individually, Tapan Mohanty advanced to the men’s all-around final after placing 17th in qualification with 71.700 points. He scored 70.100 in the final to finish 15th.
Yogeshwar Singh also qualified for the final in 18th with 71.400 but as a reserve and did not start the event on Tuesday, while Tapeshwarnath Das placed 27th in qualification with 61.000.
Artistic gymnastics has been part of all Commonwealth Games editions since 1990.
India have won three medals in the sport’s history at CWG, with Ashish Kumar claiming a men’s vault silver and a floor exercise bronze at New Delhi 2010, before Dipa Karmakar added a women’s vault bronze at Glasgow 2014.
