After a strong start to the Games, South Africa’s medal charge continues as they chase more success in Glasgow on day six.

Team South Africa will have their eyes on more medals on day six of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games .

With more than 100 athletes representing South Africa in Scotland, the collective medal tally has reached double figures with high hopes of further extending the count on Wednesday (29 July).

There will be South African athletes in action in in athletics , weightlifting , track and field, bowls and para bowls, and netball.

Commonwealth Games 2026 - South Africa’s stars to watch on Wednesday 29 July

At 21 years and 38 days old, Ashley Erasmus has her sights set on Commonwealth glory in the women’s shot put final. Erasmus is already a continental champion in both the African Games and the African Championships.

In the men’s event, Aiden Smith looks to qualify for the shot put final, while Yane van der Merwe has a shot at the podium in the women’s discus throw F42-44

Sprint starlet Mvuyo Moss is in men’s 200m action from 11:32 local time (12:32 SAST), having helped South Africa to the 4x100m relay silver medal at this year’s World Athletics Relays. The men’s 100m T12 first round features two South Africans in Masala Makatu and Jaco Smit.

Elsewhere at the Scotstoun Stadium, Sabelo Dhlamini competes in the men’s 400m hurdles and Prudence Sekgodiso in the women’s 800m semi-finals.

Collen Mahlalela is searching for sprint glory in the men’s 100m T47 final with the help of his coach, two-time Olympic champion Caster Semenya .

In weightlifting, Cheyenne Lee Maria Smith will take to the mat in the women’s 86kg final at 18:30 local (19:30 SAST).

The netball team take on Australia in the preliminary round later on Wednesday, while Bridget Herselman is in bowls action alongside the men’s pairs, and the para men’s pairs B6-B8 teams.
