After reaching the semi-finals of the women’s 100m, Pereira is also through to the same stage of the 200m event at Glasgow 2026.

Singapore’s sprint queen Veronica Shanti Pereira qualified for the women’s 200m athletics semi-finals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, after clocking her season best of 23.00 seconds in the heats on Wednesday (29 July).

Competing in Heat 5 of the first round of the event, Pereira finished third overall across all heats, behind Jamaica’s Alana Reid and Lavanya Williams .

The Singaporean came second in her heat, trailing behind Williams’ time of 22.91 seconds, while Reid, who competed in Heat 6, was second overall with 22.95 seconds.

Pereira, the reigning Asian Games 200m gold medallist, reached the 100m semi-finals but missed out on the final on Tuesday. Her personal best in the 200m is 22.57.

Elsewhere, Anthonique Strachan of the Bahamas, also qualified with her own season best of 23.52, coming third in Heat 6.

The top 17 who qualified for the semi-finals will be in action on Thursday (30 July) alongside seven athletes who received byes.
