Leverkusen - DKSH is acquiring the rights to the Meliane contraceptive brand from Bayer in 30 markets across Europe, North Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. With this acquisition, the group is expanding its own brands business in the healthcare sector and expanding its women’s health portfolio.

( CONNECT ) DKSH Holding AG has entered into an agreement with the German pharmaceutical company Bayer , based in Leverkusen, to acquire the trademark rights to Meliane across 30 markets. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. DKSH does not disclose the purchase price in the statement .

Meliane is a low-dose combined oral contraceptive pill that has been available for more than 30 years and is marketed under various brand names in different countries. The pill generated net sales of approximately 15 million Swiss francs in 2025. Most of the markets included in the transaction overlap with DKSH’s existing distribution platform, particularly in Europe.

With this acquisition, DKSH aims to strengthen its own brands portfolio in the healthcare sector. The acquisition also underscores the strategic importance of women’s health as a therapeutic area. “We see significant opportunities to further develop the brand through our market access, distribution and commercialization capabilities,” said Patrik Grande, Head of the Healthcare business unit at DKSH.

DKSH, headquartered in Zurich, provides market expansion services across 35 markets. Its Healthcare business unit distributes pharmaceuticals, preventive health care products, over-the-counter medications, and medical devices. With approximately 7,580 employees, DKSH generated net revenue of 5.8 billion Swiss francs in 2025. ce
