Oldenburg - Swiss machinery manufacturer Durrer Spezialmaschinen AG is currently installing its latest calendar production machine at customer CEWE Deutschland. With this investment, the German company, part of the CEWE Group, aims to boost the efficiency of its production processes while strengthening its future readiness.

( CONNECT ) A few days ago, the latest calendar production machine from Durrer Spezialmaschinen AG left its production facility in Küssnacht, in the Swiss canton of Schwyz, and began its journey to Germany. According to a statement , a Durrer team is currently at the client’s site, CEWE Germany , installing and commissioning the machine. “We look forward to taking another step toward more efficient and future-oriented production processes together with CEWE,” writes Durrer.

CEWE Germany is part of the Oldenburg-based CEWE Group. The photo service company operates 14 production sites and 27 sales offices across Europe. In 2025, it generated revenue of 864.5 million euros and produced 2.6 billion photos, 6.32 million CEWE photo books, and numerous personalized photo gifts.

Family-owned Durrer Spezialmaschinen AG was founded in 1949 as Gebrüder Durrer, repairing small appliances in a laundry room of their parents’ home. In 1958, the business split into Durrer Spezialmaschinen and Durrer Elektrowicklerei. In 1985, Durrer Spezialmaschinen began manufacturing machinery for international markets at its Küssnacht facility. While graphic arts machinery remains its core business, the company expanded into medical technology and the automotive industry in 2000, followed by vacuum technology in 2010. Today, Durrer Spezialmaschinen employs 60 people. ce
