Stars to watch for Australia on Saturday 1 August

Australia’s track cyclists will look to continue their strong campaign after winning gold in the men’s team sprint. Daniel James Barber , Ryan Elliott , Leigh Hoffman and Tayte Ryan will compete in the men’s sprint qualifying, with the finals taking place later in the day.

On the athletics track, Thomas Reynolds will contest the men’s 400m final, while Luke Boyes , Peter Bol and Peyton Craig will line up in the men’s 800m final.

The return of the mile event will see a trio of Aussies in the men’s and women’s race. Cameron Myers , Oliver Hoare and Adam Spencer will be in the men’s event, while Claudia Hollingsworth , Jessica Hull and Abbey Caldwell will compete in the inaugural women’s mile at the Games.

Delta Amidzovski and Brooke Buschkuehl will aim for medals in the women’s long jump final, while Lianna Davidson and Mackenzie Little take on the women’s javelin final.

In boxing, Eve Elizabeth Bryson, Jacob Cassar, Paul Trainor, Jye Dixon, Lekeisha Pergoliti and Emma-Sue Greentree will fight for spots in the gold medal bouts, while the nation’s judo contenders Joshua Katz, Vas Middleton, Tinka Easton, Saya Middleton and Keishin Ochi remain in medal contention.
