The 20-year-old clocked a legal 22.01 at Scotstoun to erase Elaine Thompson-Herah’s mark from 2022.
Adaejah Hodge served notice in the women’s 200m at the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026, as the British Virgin Islands sprinter won the second semi-final in 22.01 on Thursday (30 July) at Scotstoun Stadium.
At 20, Hodge took 0.01 off the Commonwealth Games record Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah , the five-time Olympic gold medallist, set at Birmingham 2022.
Jamaica’s Ashanti Moore was next fastest in 22.49 to book her own place in the final. Singapore’s Veronica Shanti Pereira was third in a season’s best 22.81 to advance.
Australia’s Torrie Lewis and Jamaica’s Alana Reid took the automatic places in the opening semi-final, both timed at 22.64, with England’s Success Eduan (22.65) advancing on time.
“I knew it was going to be a really fast heat, so I always knew it would be to the line,” Lewis said. “I’m just glad I got the dip – I could feel it in my legs in the last 100.”
Shaniqua Bascombe topped the final semi-final of the day, the Trinidadian winning in a personal best 22.31 ahead of Jamaica’s Lavanya Williams (22.71).
“I’m in the final now, and anything can happen,” Lewis said. “I knew coming into the championships it would be tough to do the double, but I’m prepared to do it.”
Hodge will be the one to beat in Friday’s (31 July) final. It’s set for 21:46 local time.
