Skye Blakely , Hezly Rivera , Jade Carey and Frederick Richard lead the women's and men's fields at the 2026 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, USA Gymnastics' marquee domestic event, which runs 6-9 August in Phoenix, Arizona. Rivera arrives as the reigning national champion, but there is one question circling: is she healthy enough to defend her title? The 18-year-old, who was part of Team USA's gold-medal effort two years ago at Paris 2024 , got her 2026 season off to a strong start, winning the Winter Cup in February and helping the U.S. to silver at the American Cup in early March. But at June's Pan American Championships, she withdrew after performing a watered-down vault in the opening rotation of competition. USA Gymnastics later cited a sore hamstring. No matter what, Rivera is sure to face a stiff challenge from Blakely, the 2024 U.S. all-around runner-up, who will compete all four events in an elite artistic gymnastics competition for the first time in more than two years. Blakely made a strong impression last month, winning the uneven bars and balance beam titles at the U.S. Classic and marking herself as one to watch at the nationals. Rivera's fellow Paris 2024 team champion Carey, who also owns Tokyo 2020 floor gold, is also seeking a first-ever U.S. all-around crown. She returned to elite gymnastics earlier this year at the American Classic, her first elite meet since the Games. Other women to watch include Claire Pease , the 2026 Pan American Championships all-around winner; Charleigh Bullock , who has impressed in her debut senior season; and Reese Esponda , the recent U.S. Classic winner. In the men's field, Richard will be the heavy favourite with defending champ Asher Hong not in the field due to injury. The 2026 NCAA all-around winner is looking for a first U.S. title in Phoenix. He'll face stiff competition in fellow Olympian Shane Wiskus , who won the men's qualifying event in June with an 84.157 total.
