Projection of 5-Year Cancer Prevalence up to 2045

The publication “Projection of 5-Year Cancer Prevalence up to 2045” presents the results of a special analysis based on the publication “Projection of Cancer Incidence, Cancer Prevalence and Cancer Mortality up to 2045.” Five-year cancer prevalence includes all persons who have been diagnosed with cancer within the last five years and were still alive on the respective reference date. The projection up to 2045 is based on data from the Austrian National Cancer Registry, the cause-of-death statistics and Statistics Austria’s Population Projection 2024. For this purpose, the existing cancer projection model was further developed. The results provide an important basis for long-term healthcare planning and resource allocation within the Austrian healthcare system.
