Adam Ramsay-Peaty will compete at his first European Aquatics Championships in six years when he dives into the pool in Paris, France. Find out how to watch his campaign as he goes for as many as four European titles.

Three-time Olympic champion Adam Ramsay-Peaty is among the athletes in action at the 2026 European Aquatics Championships in Paris, France, as the British swimmer tries to win his 17th to 20th European titles after a six-year break from this event.

The European championships take place in the French capital from 31 July to 16 August with swimming concluding the multi-discipline competition from 10 to 16 August.

Ramsay-Peaty already has 16 gold medals from the long-course European championships, and another gold, two silvers and a bronze from the short-course editions. He could win another four medals in Paris, possibly bringing his career long-course total to 20 European titles.

The now-31-year-old dominated breaststroke races from 2014 to 2020, winning four consecutive titles in the 50m and 100m. He is the world record holder in both events, setting the 50m record at 25.95 in 2017 and the 100m record two years later at 56.88.

But while Ramsay-Peaty's times remain the benchmark in breaststroke, he has not won any European medals since six years ago at Budapest 2020 . The British swimmer skipped the 2022 European Championships and shared a year later that he has struggled with depression. He subsequently withdrew from the British Swimming Championships and the 2023 World Aquatics Championships .

Returning to competition ahead of Paris 2024 , Ramsay-Peaty has since raced at the Olympic Games and Worlds but has yet to make his return to the European stage.

Most recently, he won two bronze medals in his signature races at the 2026 Commonwealth Games , swimming 26.94 in the 50m and 59.65 in the 100m.

Now halfway into his career's fourth Olympic cycle, Ramsay-Peaty said he is aiming to race both the 50m and 100m breaststroke at Los Angeles 2028 , where the sprint is making its first appearance on the Olympic programme. He also hopes to be selected for the men’s 4x100m medley relay and the mixed 4x100m medley relay.

The 2026 European Aquatics Championships will be a good test to see where the swimmer stands with less than two years to go until the next Olympic Games.
