The sprinting stars arrived on the opening day of Birmingham 2026 for the women’s 100m, with round one, semi-finals, and final all taking place on Monday (10 August).

Hungary’s Boglárka Takács and Briton Imani Lansiquot topped the qualifiers in round one of the women’s 100m at the 2026 European Athletics Championship in Birmingham, Great Britain, on Monday (10 August).

Both women clocked sub-11-second times, with Takács crossing in 10.93 and Lansiquot in 10.99, albeit in wind-aided conditions with a strong tailwind. Lansiquot’s qualification means there will be four Britons in Monday evening’s semi-finals on home soil, as heavyweights Dina Asher-Smith and Amy Hunt plus Daryll Neita all received byes.

The 28-year-old Lansiquot was part of the Team GB 4x100m relay squad alongside Asher-Smith, Hunt, and Neita that won silver at Paris 2024.

“To run sub-11 and equal my PB, I’m very excited for later,” she said after her heat.

“I didn’t want to expend more than five out of ten energy and that is exactly what I did. It’s done, and I can relax.”

Elsewhere, Belgium’s U23 European champion in the 200m Delphine Nkansa set a personal best of 11.07 to qualify to land herself among the top 12 fastest qualifiers from the first round too.

Following the semi-finals at 20:10 local time, the final takes place at 21:50.
