KSB and Asklepios sign MoU in Hamburg; First-of-its-kind Swiss hospital procurement alliance

KSB and Asklepios bolster supply security

Hamburg - Baden Cantonal Hospital (KSB), and the German Asklepios Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Within the framework of a strategic procurement partnership, they will seek to strengthen the security of supply and optimize processes along the entire supply and procurement chain.

( CONNECT ) Baden Cantonal Hospital and the Hamburg-based hospital network Asklepios have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). According to a statement , they are therefore laying the foundations for a strategic procurement partnership with the aim of “strengthening supply security, optimizing processes along the entire supply and procurement chain and sustainably improving efficiency”. In so doing, the aim is to address the growing challenges in hospital procurement processes and supply chains, which are shaped by rising costs, volatile markets, supply shortages and increasingly stringent regulatory requirements.

“In Asklepios, we are gaining an experienced partner to help us future-proof our processes while further strengthening quality, cost-efficiency and resilience”, as Elmi Osman, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at KSB, comments in the statement, adding that: “For us, this partnership is a key strategic step in the direction of positioning procurement processes as a long-term success factor in patient care”.

According to the information, this strategic procurement partnership is the first of its kind and scale between a Swiss cantonal hospital and a hospital network of this size. Under the terms of the agreement, Asklepios will leverage its expertise in the areas of procurement, trading, warehouse logistics and supply chains for the benefit of KSB.

As part of the collaboration, the Swiss business unit of Asklepios, namely Asklepios Swiss Supply AG, will also be transformed into an independent company for procurement, trading, logistics and supply chains. Moving forwards, it will be tasked with reaching framework agreements for Swiss hospitals and healthcare facilities, in addition to pooling Asklepios’s expertise in Switzerland with the aim of putting in place modern procurement and logistics structures. ce
