Football: Egypt confirmed as hosts for CAF men’s U-23 Africa Cup of Nations 2027

Egypt will host the 2027 CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) , CAF announced on Monday (10 August).
The African football governing body has selected Egypt to stage the tournament, although neither the dates nor the host cities have been announced.
In the same announcement for the U-23 AFCON hosts, CAF appointed Morocco to organise both this year’s Futsal AFCON and the 2027 Under-17 AFCON, South Africa to host the 2027 Super Cup, Senegal to hold November’s Beach Soccer AFCON, and Ghana to stage the 2027 Under-20 AFCON.
The official qualification pathway for the men’s football tournament for LA28 has yet to be announced.
Egypt were one of three African representatives at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, going on to lose in the bronze medal match against Morocco. Mali completed the men’s football contingent.
