Mary-Ambre Moluh , Carl Aitkaci , Maxime Grousset and Marie Wattel combined for a winning time of 3:39.64, well clear of the Netherlands , who finished second in 3:40.92. Team Neutral Athletes B rounded out the podium with a 3:41.52 time. Team GB, led by three-time Olympic champion and 16-time European gold medallist Adam Ramsay-Peaty finished fourth. Their time was 3:41.71. "It was completely crazy. Relays are always special," said Moluh, who set the European backstroke 100m record during the race. "You feel lifted by the fact that you’re swimming for your team, not just for yourself. "The energy in the venue was incredible, too," she continued. "I’m just happy that I gave my best and that I can keep building on this momentum. These championships have started well for me." On the strength of Kliment Kolesnikov and Kirill Prigoda , the Neutral Athletes B led after 200 metres. But France's Grousset pulled his squad into the lead with one lap to go. Wattel, a three-time Olympian, closed with 52.94 split for the gold medal in front of a boisterous home crowd. "Honestly, we have a really great atmosphere in the team. Everyone gets along really well. We know what our strengths are, we know our potential," said Wattel.
