With its extensive special coverage of the solar eclipse, news channel WELT recorded one of its highest-reach broadcasting days of 2026 on Wednesday.
Among the key 14-59 demographic, the live coverage generated an above-average market share of 3.0%, reaching peaks of up to 3.9%. WELT’s total daily market share stood at 2.0% (E14-59).
On average, WELT attracted 316,000 viewers aged 3 and above between 7:00 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. At its peak at 8:00 p.m., 452,000 viewers were watching, making it the channel’s second-highest audience figure of the year to date.
WELT delivered nine hours of live reporting on the solar eclipse, integrating feeds from eleven countries. Its own reporters were live on location in Iceland, Mallorca, and the Alps.
