Gregor Kobel on Borussia Dortmund new signing Konstaninos Karetsas: ‘He’s got incredible quality’
New Borussia Dortmund signing Konstaninos Karetsas may only have been at the club a few days, but he already has a big fan in the dressing room: Gregor Kobel.
Kobel only recently returned to Dortmund training following an extended post-World Cup holiday, and he was not part of the BVB squad that beat Arsenal in a friendly in London last week.
However, the 28-year-old has clearly caught up with the goals from his side’s 3-2 victory, including Karetsas ’ wonderstrike.

“You can tell straight away that he’s an extremely exciting player and that he’s got incredible quality on the ball,” the Switzerland international told Sky Sport Germany .
“The goal against Arsenal was outstanding. It’s always good when you can get off to a start like that.”
Karetsas was not the only player to impress Kobel at Emirates Stadium, with teenagers Samuele Inácio and Mathis Albert likewise producing eye-catching performances. “It’s good to have a certain mix between experience and hunger, with fresh blood coming in too,” Kobel said. The boys are really motivated. They’ve got fantastic qualities.”
Kobel himself is now very much looking forward to the new season and aiming to “win every single game”. He has already circled one particular fixture in the calendar: the return of the Revierderby against newly promoted Schalke .
“I can’t wait for that game,” he said. “I think it’s cool that the fixture has returned. It belongs in the Bundesliga. We’re really looking forward to it. I’m sure the fans are as well. Rivalries like that are fun for the players and for the league itself. It’s a brilliant fixture.”
