McIntosh races four events in Irvine, California, starting with the 200m freestyle on Wednesday. Here’s her full schedule and how to follow every final.
Canadian swimming sensation Summer McIntosh dives into the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships on Wednesday (12 August) with the 200m freestyle at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, California.
The 19-year-old is entered into four individual events for the four-day competition, which runs through Saturday 15 August.
The 2026 Pan Pacs are the first of McIntosh’s career. She arrives as the reigning Olympic and world champion in the 200m butterfly, 200m individual medley, and 400m individual medley - events in which she also holds the individual long-course world records. She finished second in the 400m freestyle at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 , but captured her first world title in the event in Singapore last year (McIntosh also holds the world record in this event, too).
Racing in the same region that will host the Olympic Games LA28 in two years, McIntosh has said she’s targeting five individual gold medals at the Games in Los Angeles. As she builds toward that goal, the Pan Pacific Championships provide the first indicator of where she stands.
Despite breaking the long-standing 200m butterfly world record with a 2:01.65 effort at the Canadian Swimming Trials in July, McIntosh has scratched the event from her program, which falls on the same night as the 200m freestyle.
She’ll then go in the 400m individual medley, before one of the events of the competition as she takes on familiar foe and nine-time Olympic gold medallist Katie Ledecky in the 400m freestyle on Friday.
McIntosh rounds out her Pan Pacs with the 200m individual medley on Saturday.
