The Tokyo 2020 all-around champion said her skills are returning on two apparatus as she took on her first day of strength training since launching her comeback.

Two-time Olympic gold medallist Suni Lee says she nearly has all of her skills back on two of the four apparatus.

The Tokyo 2020 gold medallist, weeks into a gymnastics comeback aimed at the Olympic Games LA28 , shared a training update Wednesday (12 August) in a TikTok day-in-the-life style video.

“I pretty much have almost all of my skills back on bars and beam,” Lee said.

The video shows Lee, 23, executing a Pak salto directly to a Maloney, along with attempts at a Pak salto connected with a Van Leuween, and a Jaeger to Gienger combination she has never done in competition previously.

Lee has previously shared video of her training an aerial, layout stepout, layout stepout series on the balance beam.

Floor and vault are further behind, Lee admitted.

She is staying on the TumblTrak for floor – the video shows her training a front full through to a back two-and-a-half twist – and holding off on vault until she builds back up.

“Vault, I am not attempting for a little bit until I get stronger,” she said.

Her strength is something she’s taking on for the first time in her comeback, Lee explained.

“Today’s my first day of strength also,” she said. “I wanted to give myself like a couple of weeks to get back before I started strength so that I’m not totally dying.”

She’ll have company though: her sister will come along, a first, according to Lee.

“One thing about me is I hate strength, so I’m just happy that I have somebody else doing it with me,” she said.
