At today’s inauguration of Germany’s largest battery storage facility in Leuna

Krumpa , Minister President Sven Schulze emphasized : “Saxony-Anhalt is an energy state. We’re already generating large amounts of electricity from solar and wind power today. That’s something we can be proud of. This energy will now be available exactly when people and businesses need it. Large-scale storage facilities are the key to this flexibility.

The unique storage cluster from Münch Energie here in the Saale District shows that we are consistently pursuing this path. Our local energy is being transformed into reliable, usable energy. This strengthens security of supply and makes our power grid more stable. In doing so, we are creating the best conditions for innovative companies and new jobs. This keeps the value added within our region. The energy transition is becoming a real opportunity for the future of Saxony-Anhalt—for our economy, our communities, and the people who live here.”

With the ceremonial commissioning of Münch Energie GmbH’s new battery storage cluster, a network with approximately 500 MWh of storage capacity is being connected to the grid. This is currently the largest contiguous storage cluster in Germany in operational use. The facility will be expanded to up to 800 MWh before the end of this year.
