Boys’ U17 World Championship pools set for redraw – FIVB

The pool compositions for the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U17 World Championship will be determined in a new Drawing of Lots on Saturday, 15 August, with 20 teams set to compete in Doha, Qatar, from 19-29 August.

The Drawing of Lots will be streamed live on FIVB’s YouTube channel.

The 20 participating teams will be divided into five pools of four for the preliminary round.

Under the drawing procedure, hosts Qatar and the nine highest-ranked participating teams according to the FIVB Junior World Ranking will be placed in the first two rows across the five pools.

Qatar will be placed in Pool A alongside Tunisia, while Italy and Cuba will occupy the first two positions in Pool B. Argentina and Brazil will be placed in Pool C, Spain and Egypt in Pool D, and Iran and Chinese Taipei in Pool E.

The remaining 10 teams will be drawn into the five pools. Mexico, Pakistan, Bulgaria, France and India, ranked 11th through 15th among the participating teams, will be drawn into the third row.

Venezuela, Algeria, Poland, Romania and Türkiye, ranked 16th through 20th, will be drawn into the fourth row to complete the pool compositions.

Each team will play three matches in the preliminary round, with the top 16 teams in the combined ranking advancing to the Round of 16. The remaining four teams will be eliminated.

The competition will then move into the knockout stage, with the eight Round of 16 winners advancing to the quarterfinals. The four quarterfinal winners will progress to the semifinals, followed by the bronze medal and gold medal matches.
