In this Majlis session, Saghi Parkhideh introduces Tehran Zine, an independent publishing platform founded in 2021 by Amir Moghtada and Saghi Parkhideh to promote self-publishing and zine culture in Iran. Through publications, workshops, exhibitions, and open calls, Tehran Zine supports emerging artists in creating and publishing their own zines while fostering a growing network for independent publishing.
The session offers insights into Tehran Zine’s work and explores self-publishing as a tool for artistic expression, collaboration, and community building. Participants will learn about the opportunities and challenges of independent publishing in Iran and how zines can create spaces for creative exchange across borders. This Majlis session especially welcomes members of the Iranian diaspora and other diasporic communities interested in self-publishing, artist books, and independent publishing.
Amir Moghtada (b. 1987, Kashan) is a designer and founder of Rā Design Studio in Tehran. He co-founded Tehran Zine, where he focuses on publication design, Risograph printing, and supporting emerging artists through independent publishing. Saghi Parkhideh (b. 1989, Tehran) is an artist and independent publisher based in Lyon and Tehran. She is the founder of Rezvan Projects and co-founder of Tehran Zine. Her practice combines printmaking, artist books, and publishing, with a focus on creating collaborative platforms for emerging artists.
