With the event making its Euros debut, the Great Britain quartet, which also included 100m and 200m silver medallists Jeremiah Azu and Zharnel Hughes , respectively, delivered victory on a home track, with Hunt anchoring the team to a new European record of 39.97 . With the win, Asher-Smith has now become the most decorated athlete in European Championships history with 11 medals , overtaking Poland's Irena Szewińska , who has 10. "It's good to get to try something new," Asher-Smith told the BBC after the event. "The more we do it, the more we learn the tips and tricks of the event to keep running faster." Hunt, on the other hand, has become the first athlete to win four gold medals at a single European Championships , adding to her victories in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.
