View the full start list below. The 81st edition of La Vuelta a España – the third of three annual Grand Tours in road cycling — has pedaled into view at long last. Beginning in the seaside principality of Monaco on Saturday (22 August), the peloton – consisting of 184 riders from 23 teams – will race across France, Andorra and Spain in pursuit of the red jersey. Covering 3,275 kilometres across 21 stages and three-weeks of racing, they’ll arrive at the Alhambra in Granada on 13 September – completing a sporting conquest of the Iberian peninsula. Reigning world champion Tadej Pogačar will enter La Vuelta as the man to beat coming off his dominant win at the 2026 Tour de France. But this will be unfamiliar territory for the Olympic bronze medallist. Making only his second career start at the Spanish Grand Tour, “Pogi” will hope to improve on his third place debut in 2019 and claim one of the few trophies missing from his impressive collection. Of course, there will be plenty of riders hoping to don the red jersey themselves and deny him that honour. Scroll down for an updated list of teams and riders preparing to do just that.
