Lausanne Diamond League 2026: Athletes to watch

Great Britain’s Hunt was outright imperial at the European Athletics Championships, claiming the women’s sprint-double, women’s 4x100m title and a mixed 4x100m gold to leave as the most decorated athlete in a single edition of the championships .

She’ll hope to prove that was just the beginning of her reign over track and field’s high-octane sprint distances, coming to face-to-face with five-time Olympic medallist Jackson in a highly-anticipated women’s 200m clash.

While the Jamaican superstar holds the better season’s best between the pair at 21.87 seconds – compared to Hunt’s 22.19 – the British continental champion has proven she’s not to be underestimated.

An equal amount of intrigue will surround the men’s 200m in Lausanne, with Africa’s finest – Olympic champion Tebogo and Commonwealth champion Sinesipho Dambile – set to go head-to-head.

Having skipped the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Tebogo will look to remind the South African rising star of his own prowess in the half-lap sprint. That said, it’s been an up-and-down season for the Botswana superstar, who trails Dambile this season: 19.74 to 19.84.

Swiss fans will be eager to catch a glimpse of European champion Werro in the women’s 800m, as she faces 400m hurdles star turned two lap threat Femke Broeders-Bol and Commonwealth runner-up Lilian Odira in one of the meet’s most-anticipated races.

Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Paris 2024 runner-up Marco Arop will meet in the men’s 800m, with the United States’ Brandon Miller hoping to edit the script and showcase his extraordinary ability to slay the event’s giants at the international level.

All eyes will be on “Mondo” Duplantis in the men’s pole vault, with Swiss European champion Moser looking to pull off a highly desired encore against Team USA’s Katie Moon and Sandi Morris on home soil.

And don’t forget about Olympic champions Masai Russell in the women’s 100m hurdles, Miltiadis Tentoglou in the men’s long jump and Neeraj Chopra in the men’s javelin, who will aim to create some headlines of their own in Lausanne.
