The length of Grifo’s new deal has not been disclosed, but both parties are delighted that the former Italy international has committed his future to the club.
“My journey here isn’t over yet and there are still a number of things I want to achieve,” said Grifo, who overtook Nils Petersen as the club’s all-time top scorer last season. “I’m very ambitious and I want to be on the pitch in every game. The competition from the younger players keeps me on my toes and makes all of us better.
“My family was also a major factor. We’ve found a home here in Freiburg, so it was an easy decision for me.”
Klemens Hartenbach, Freiburg’s sporting director, added: “Working with Vince is special, whether that’s on the pitch, in the dressing room or in our conversations with him. His consistent performances and the support he provides to his team-mates make him hugely important to the whole group.”
Grifo helped Freiburg win the Bundesliga 2 title in his first season with the club in 2025
