Tickets for the first Olympic event ever held on African soil are on sale now. Here’s everything you need to know before you book your seat at Dakar 2026.

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games open on 31 October, and you can already secure your spot at the first Olympic event ever to be held on African soil!

Tickets for the Games - which run from 31 October to 13 November across three host sites in Senegal - went on general sale on 10 August.

Less than 100 days before the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026, the French actor Omar Sy, who is a Dakar 2026’s ambassador, speaks about what the first YOG ever held in Africa mean to him and the youth of the world.

What are the ticket prices for Dakar 2026?

The competition tickets start from 1,000 CFA francs (FCFA), equivalent to around US$1.70 (€1.50).

There are two seating categories for this Youth Olympic Games:

Category B (standard seating): 1,000 FCFA or 2,000 FCFA, depending on the sport and session.

Category A (premium seating with the best views): 2,000 FCFA or 3,000 FCFA.

Accessible seating for persons with reduced mobility: 1,000 FCFA.

A Day Pass costs 1,500 FCFA and provides access to multiple sessions on the same day at a single venue, without an assigned seat.

Fan Zone tickets are free of charge.

Persons with reduced mobility: 2,000 FCFA

The ticket prices are intended to make the first Olympic event held on African soil accessible to as many spectators as possible.

How do I buy tickets for Dakar 2026?

Tickets are sold only through the official Dakar 2026 ticketing platform . You’ll need to create an account before selecting sessions or passes.

Purchase limits apply: a maximum of 16 tickets per person per session, dropping to 10 for some low-capacity sessions, and no more than 60 tickets in total per account.

Children under three enter free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. Spectators with disabilities qualify for a reduced rate in the most accessible seating areas, with free admission for one companion.

What are the different ticket types available for Dakar 2026?

There are three ticket options:

Session Ticket - A session ticket gives access to more than one event within a specific sport during a designated time slot. This ticket type also applies for Opening and Closing Ceremonies, including the athletes’ parade and the accompanying entertainment.

Day Pass - A Day Pass provides access to an entire day of activities at a competition venue, including entertainment and on-site activities. A Festival Pass variant also grants access to the cultural and artistic events scheduled throughout the day.

Fan Zone Ticket - The Fan Zone ticket gives access to activity areas featuring educational programmes, demonstrations and sports initiation sessions. A separate show

concert ticket allows spectators access to musical performances in standing-room areas.

How many medal events will take place at Dakar 2026?

A total of 153 medal events across 25 competition sports , with strict gender parity between female and male athletes.

Approximately 2,700 athletes , under 17 years of age at the time of the Games, are expected to participate.​

Which sports will feature at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games?

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games programme includes 25 competition sports and 10 engagement sports .

The competition programme features athletics, coastal rowing, badminton, Baseball5, 3x3 basketball, boxing, breaking, road cycling, fencing, futsal, artistic gymnastics, beach handball, judo, beach wrestling, rugby sevens, street skateboarding, swimming, show jumping, taekwondo, table tennis, archery, triathlon, sailing, beach volleyball and wushu.

In addition, Dakar 2026 will include 10 engagement sports designed to introduce young people in Senegal and across Africa to new sporting experiences. These sports, which will not award medals, are paddlesport, climbing, golf, weightlifting, hockey, karate, modern pentathlon, surfing, tennis and shooting.

Competitions will be staged across eight venues grouped into three clusters. In Dakar, events will take place at the Complexe Tour de l’Œuf, Corniche West and Stade Iba Mar Diop.

In Diamniadio, competition venues include the Dakar Arena, Dakar Expo, Stade Abdoulaye Wade and the Diamniadio Equestrian Complex. Beach events will be held at Saly Beach West in Saly.

Which venues host which sports?

Eight venues across three clusters:

Dakar - Complexe Tour de l’Œuf ( 3x3 basketball , Baseball5 , breaking , skateboarding , swimming ); Stade Iba Mar Diop ( athletics , boxing , futsal , rugby sevens ); Corniche West (all 10 engagement sports, plus the road cycling start and finish).

Diamniadio - Dakar Arena ( badminton , futsal ); Dakar Expo Centre ( artistic gymnastics , fencing , judo , table tennis , taekwondo , wushu ); Abdoulaye Wade Stadium ( archery ); Diamniadio Equestrian Centre (jumping).

Saly - Saly Beach West ( beach handball , beach volleyball , beach wrestling , coastal rowing , sailing , triathlon ).

30 October – Baseball5 qualifiers begin, one day before the Games officially open

31 October – Opening Ceremony at Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio

1 November – first medals awarded, in swimming and judo

3 November – busiest day of the Games, with medals awarded in seven sports

13 November – final day of competition, followed by the Closing Ceremony
