Rebounding from an up-and-down third-round match, Gauff showcased the best part of her game in a confident fourth-round tie against Czechia's Bouzková on Wednesday, 19 August.

U.S. tennis star Coco Gauff marched through to the women’s singles quarterfinals at the 2026 Cincinnati Open , earning a confident straight sets win, 6-3, 6-2, over No. 22 seed Marie Bouzková on Wednesday (19 August).

It was an impressive showing from the two-time Grand Slam singles champion, who celebrated “back to school” season by turning in a perfect report card when it came to break points faced, squashing all eight chances for Bouzková to tighten the scoreline.

Her return brilliance also helped cancel out continued service woes, which reared their ugly head once more in the Queen City. Giving away six double faults, Gauff responded marvelously, producing five aces and winning 76 percent of first serve points.

Breaking first against the Grand Slam quarterfinalist, she gained the early advantage at 3-1 in the first set. While Bouzková kept the pressure on, the Floridian superstar refused to fold in front of the home crowd, holding strong to grit out a set full of long rallies.

From there, the second set brought much of the same. Gauff came more into her own as the game stretched on, earning break points in the third and seventh games, putting away the match after one hour and 33 minutes of play in Ohio.

Chasing a second coronation at the tournament often seen as a warm-up for the US Open, she’ll play Ukrainian star Marta Kostyuk in the last eight on Friday, 21 August.
