More Activities Offered by the Haus der Berge National Park Center
Ten minutes before ten, we warmly welcome you in the foyer of the National Park Center to tell you more about our facility, the “Vertical Wilderness” exhibition, and Germany’s only Alpine national park. We’d like to give you a better understanding of nature, history, and the goals of the protected area.

Tuesday and Thursday Early June – Late October
On this guided tour, we’ll open our traditional Lahnerkaser—an alpine hut in the National Park—for you. You’ll immerse yourself in the life of mountain farmers and learn more about the sustainably managed, biodiverse alpine pastures in the protected area. The meeting point is in the foyer of the National Park Center.

“Bats – Goblins of the Night»
Did you know that bats “fly with their hands” and “see with their ears”? In an interactive program held outdoors and at the Haus der Berge Education Center, we’ll dive into the hidden world of bats.
Participants: at least 2 families
Would you like to explore the diverse nature of the national park with us? At the Education Center, you’ll have the chance to learn lots of exciting things about the national park and nature and discover new things. There’s something for everyone! A varied program awaits you at the Education Center.
Participants: Children ages 6–10 (min. 4, max. 15 children)
You can explore the accessible Panorama Trail—which offers magnificent views of the national park—as well as the children’s adventure area free of charge, even if you don’t visit the exhibition. You can access the publicly accessible outdoor area through the foyer. Dogs are allowed here on a short leash.
For your visit to the “Vertical Wilderness” exhibition, we’re happy to provide you with a free audio guide upon request. Currently, you can choose from three different routes:
Route 1: Mysterious Mountain Dwellers:
Is the doe the female of the stag? What lives in the depths of Lake Königssee? Is the “Gamsbart” really the beard of the chamois? And are raven parents really bad parents? Learn interesting and curious stories about the animal inhabitants of Berchtesgaden National Park.
Route 2: People and Nature:
This audio tour focuses on the following questions:
How much nature do humans need?
How much human activity can nature tolerate?
Humans use nature and need it to relax.
But how does nature recover from human impact?
Route 3: Interactive Children’s Program:
An audio tour by children, for children: Through short audio plays, children hear exciting stories about the national park. For example, the mystery surrounding Hansi the ibex is revealed. Find out what happened to him in the ibex mystery. You can also look forward to a secret smuggler’s tour, an adventurous mountain hike, and much more.
