During the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, competition venues will not be the only places to experience the Games. The Corniche will also host activities, concerts and shows, offering families and friends the chance to enjoy the Games in a different way.
Sport, but not only. From 31 October to 13 November 2026, the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will bring Senegal to life through the excitement of competition.
Alongside the sporting events, i ncluding the road cycling events taking place on the Corniche Ouest on 8 and 10 November, spectators will be able to enjoy a cultural and entertainment programme designed for everyone.
Near Place du Souvenir Africain, the Dakar 2026 programme will put music, dance, comedy and the arts centre stage. It is another way to extend the Youth Olympic Games experience beyond the competition venues.
Activities for the whole family
Interactive activities will give the public the chance to discover the Games in a fun and engaging way. They will also provide an opportunity to take part in activities centred around the 10 engagement sports.
These sports have a special place in Dakar 2026. They offer young people and the general public the chance to discover new ways to move, play and connect.
Senegalese culture takes centre stage
During the Youth Olympic Games, artistic expression will be celebrated at the Corniche. Traditional performances, contemporary dance and urban dance will bring the site to life throughout the Games.
The programme will also showcase a range of musical styles. Reggae, hip-hop, jazz, Afro music and live performances will create a variety of atmospheres for visitors to enjoy.
The public will also be able to attend a slam poetry evening, a comedy show and a fashion show. These events will make the Corniche one of the key places to meet, connect and celebrate during the Youth Olympic Games.
A special focus on women
Women will also take centre stage in the programme. An exhibition entitled “African Olympians”, produced in partnership with the Olympic Museum, will be open to the public.
It will shine a light on the journeys, talent and creativity of African women athletes through sport and culture.
The Youth Olympic Games: an experience to share
The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will be the first Olympic sporting event ever held in Africa.
For this landmark edition, the Games aim to offer an experience that goes beyond sporting competition alone.
